Right on track at the Steam Museum!

Full Steam Ahead for New Business Agreement

Dorset-based Johnsons Stalbridge Linen Services, the specialist provider of table linen and chefs wear, is right on track with STEAM – the Museum of the Great Western Railway

The award-winning museum, conference and events centre in Swindon, which attracts visitors from all over the UK, has signed up the company to provide all the table linen and chefs’ wear for use in all six of its hospitality areas, including what is thought to be the region’s largest dedicated conference area, the 750-seat Great Western Hall.

STEAM, which is housed in a beautifully restored Grade II listed building at the heart of what was once one of the largest railway engineering complexes in the world, tells the story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway, pioneered by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. As well as attracting around 140,000 visitors a year to the Museum, it regularly hosts anything from small intimate weddings and naming ceremonies to large-scale gala dinners, product launches and recordings.

"The venue often simultaneously hosts a variety of events which can take place back to back, and day into night," explains STEAM commercial manager Ian Surtees. "With Johnsons Stalbridge Linen Services we have a supplier who understands the nature of the catering and hospitality business, and who can accommodate large numbers while responding quickly and accurately to changes in demand."

The company, which has its headquarters on the Wincombe Business Park in Shatesbury, now supplies all of the table linen and chefs’ wear used at STEAM, and provides the laundry services for these items.

"We’re delighted to be working with STEAM and look forward to forging a successful partnership with such a special venue," said David Hill, sales and marketing director.
